ShopSite 5.0 Released for Windows Server Platforms

New Version is ready for Windows XP

PROVO, Utah, October 3, 2001 -- ShopSite, Inc, a leading provider of easy-to-use web catalog software, today announced the general availability of ShopSite 5.0 for the Windows Server platforms. ShopSite 5.0 for Windows gives small to medium sized businesses needing shopping cart, web catalog, and e-marketing software powerful new capabilities.

"We are excited to come out with our first release just a few months after spinning off from Open Market," said David Hills, President of ShopSite, Inc. "We made sure to take the easy-to-use interface that ShopSite is known for and apply it to the new features and new installation."

ShopSite 5.0 for Windows installation has been greatly simplified. Hosting providers, web developers, and even merchants can now install ShopSite by just clicking a few buttons and answering some questions.

Besides a simpler installation, ShopSite 5 for Windows adds:

  • Inventory Tracking - ShopSite 5.0 offers inventory tracking that decrements an inventory based on product orders, warns merchants of low inventory levels and blocks orders when inventory reaches a merchant-determined point.
  • Mall-wide Product Indexing - A portal or ISP can capture ShopSite's optional XML output to produce an index of all products in all their ShopSite stores.
  • Improved User Experience - The store setup wizard, database upload and download, and database maintenance have all been revised for easier use.
  • Ordering Options and Quantity Selection - Ordering options can now be specified on the Product Page in addition to the shopping cart page.

ShopSite 5.0 for Windows is available now for Windows 2000 and Windows NT. It has also been tested for use on Windows XP and will be re-certified on that platform when the official Microsoft release becomes available later this month. ShopSite 5.0 is also available on various Unix server platforms.
