ShopSite Starter Released

New product replaces ShopSite Lite

PROVO, Utah, December 3, 2001 -- ShopSite, Inc, a leading provider of easy-to-use Web catalog software, today announced the general availability of a new product -- ShopSite Starter. ShopSite Starter replaces ShopSite Lite in the ShopSite product line.

New features in ShopSite Starter that were not in ShopSite Lite include:

  • Support for up to 15 products
  • Online credit card processing through E-Commerce Exchange
  • No upsell ad frame in the back office and no ShopSite ads on shopping cart screens and customer receipts

ShopSite is available in a high-end "Pro" version, a mid-size "Manager" version, and previously a low-end "Lite" version. "New online merchants are asking for more features in our introductory product," said David Hills, President of ShopSite, Inc. "As we continue to add new features to ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager versions, we are able to push down to our low-end product features that at one time were only available to Manager users."

Hills stated that "Because the features we have added to what used to be call Lite are significant, we decided to rename the product 'Starter'."

When a ShopSite partner upgrades to the latest version of ShopSite that supports Starter (version 5.0.2.6), all existing ShopSite Lite stores will automatically be converted to ShopSite Starter.

ShopSite Starter is available now for the UNIX server platform. The ECX payment gateway is available on servers running Solaris Sparc, Linux, and Irix.
