Feature Highlight: Inventory Tracking

Tired of manually tracking what you have in stock and when you need to reorder? Let ShopSite Pro v5 manage your inventory for you. ShopSite's inventory tracking feature takes the headache out of inventory management. Using ShopSite Pro you can let ShopSite track the amount of stock you have on hand and notify you of low-stock and out-of-stock conditions. You can also prevent customers from ordering products that are out-of-stock. ShopSite software is robust, allowing you to enable this for the whole store, or just activate it for a few particular products in your store.

The "Support Queue"

Have you ever exported your pages or products from Microsoft Excel (or another spreadsheet or database) and imported it into ShopSite, only to find that the Name or other text fields had quotation marks surrounding them that you didn't put there?

This is usually because Microsoft Excel found quote marks or double quote marks or some other non-alphabetic character in one of your fields. In addition to surrounding the text fields with double quotes, it will sometimes add another double quote following YOUR original double quote.

Would you like to solve this problem without changing all of your text or buying a new spreadsheet program? There is a perl script on the ftp.shopsite.com anonymous FTP site that can be placed in the ShopSite CGI Directory (the same directory as start.cgi) of a v5.0 or greater ShopSite installation that will strip the extraneous quote marks from your exported file before you import it into ShopSite. Merchant Tip

"I'm using shipping by currency, but some of my products don't need to be charged shipping. For example, I sell gift certificates in the store, and they should not be charged for shipping."

Solution
One way to work around this would be to change your shipping method to "Shipping by Weight" and set up your shipping table just like you did for "Shipping by Currency." Then for each of your products, copy the price of the product into that product's weight field. At this point, your shipping should work just like Shipping by Currency. Now you can change the weight of any of your products to 0 and they won't be included in the shipping charges.
